About DJ Precipitate Flood 

Precipitate Flood is a rabbit with a number of records. All sorts of records. And she wants to share them with you.

Precipitate Flood is an avatar in the online environment Second Life. Originally starting out as a sort of male fox thing, she became female for aesthetic reasons, then turned into a white rabbit for equally aesthetic reasons.

Initially she was to be a “freebie hound” (i.e. blogging about free items), she was discouraged by the number of freebie blogs already out there. For some time, she wandered, an avatar without portfolio.

In early 2011 she found herself at the beachside retreat of the New Zealand group Flight of the Kiwis, where she was encouraged to have a go at the DJ thing.

Since then she has enthusiastically embraced being able to share her, or more precisely her user’s, eclectic mix of pop, rock, dance and sheer oddness in musical form.

Precipitate’s user had his musical tastes influenced beyond recovery by Radio Massey (now Control FM) in 1990. Repeated exposure to Radio Active during the 90s only solidified the damage done to a lad who previously thought ZMFM was tops and revered such soft pop as Jean-Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk. Now he likes Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, Dead Kennedys, lounge music of the 50s and 60s, early 90s techno and rave, punk, The Clean… the list goes on.
